The assertion of the game is that you can build and manage a village in a RTS style, just as how you would in Age of Empires, but you can also then play the game in first person and set of in your own adventures as you would in an RPG game like Skyrim. The team behind this game gave a brief introduction to the game on Reddit.
...
The game will be based of strong RPG elements and will play like one but with RTS elements and city management. You can set food rations, defence status. troop related items, patrolling paths and a lot more, and you can do all this away from your homestead via a steward. So while your out exploring you can still leave orders, on how to manage your town. The RPG elements come into play via skills which you can upgrade the more you use your weapon, potion etc. The RTS elements focus on keeping a tight defence system for your village, and battles wont be staged on an epic scale like other games like Mount and Blade, but rather opting for more strategic gameplay. You can only control your character like you would in an RPG, switching units isn't available as an option.
The game is going to be released on Steam Early Access, as they believe that this will give them a chance to tinker with mechanics ans see what works best. At the moment there is a lack of voice-acting, multiplayer or co-op, this has allowed the team to build the project quickly with a stable base in hopes to deliver an excellent product.
